A brief ramble around Sanitorium Lake to view and identify the fungi of the area

Join the Macedon Ranges Field Nats and local fungi enthusiast Greg Boldiston for a brief ramble around Sanitorium Lake. After a short discussion, we will take a stroll around the lake to take in the great diversity of fungi in the area.

With its wetter climate and diversity of habitats, the Macedon Ranges is a hotspot for an incredible range of fungi. In the Wombat Forest alone, hundreds of species have been documented from the familiar mushroom to the more bizarre forms like corals (pictured), cups, clubs, jellies, lattice balls and even starfish!
