Turpins Falls, Langley

Walk - Turpin Falls

Length - 0.8m

Time to complete: approx. 5 min (longer on the way back due to steep incline). Don’t forget to include extra time for a dip!

Turpin Falls is a favourite but sometimes deadly local swimming hole. Actually a billabong, it was used by the local swimming club in the 1930's before the advent of contemporary swimming pools. It is larger than an olympic sized pool even when there is no rain. It has also been a popular teenage haunt and cliff diving site. Due to a number of deaths and serious injuries cliff diving is now prohibited but you can still swim in the billabong by accessing from the river side. Bring shoes as there are sharp rocks and the occasional snake in the shallow water. It is particularly spectacular at the moment with all the rain we have been having this winter!

Update 01/12/21: Signage and fencing are in place to prevent people accessing the car park, track and falls until Parks Victoria complete works to improve track safety for Public to access the Falls.
