The Goldfields Track Walk Series - Part One (14.2km)

Walk - Dry Diggings Track - Tipperary Walk

Length - 14.2km

Time to complete: approx. 4hrs

We set off on this beautiful walk last Tuesday, starting at the picturesque Lake Daylesford and meandering along a single narrow goldfields track towards Castlemaine. The Dry Diggings track lived up to its name and most creeks were devoid of water. Best to fill up your water bottle as the only spring stations were close to Daylesford. We did not quite make it to Hepburn as our greyhounds started to complain so we stopped for lunch at Tipperary Springs and walked back to the Lake, a total of about ten kms winding through some very pretty, solitary bushland and allowing for all sorts of imaginings about the original inhabitants and later gold rush seekers.
