The Goldfields Track Walk Series - Part Four (13.5km)

Walk - Golden Mountain ( Porcupine Ridge Rd to Vaughan Springs)

Length - 13.5km

Time to complete: approx. 3hrs

We were very lucky to be accompanied again by Mark from Hanging Rock Llama Treks and his five steady llamas, each carrying water and picnic provisions. This section of the Goldfields Track is part of the Dry Diggings Track we were completing the "Golden Mountain" walk. The walk was 13.5 kms and slightly longer than the 11 kms we expected but very pretty. Starting through dense black wood forests, through several gullies before opening up to a landscape of grassy hills and red gums as we approached Vaughan Springs. Lots of stone ruins and cornish fireplaces along the ways pointing to mining communities of the past. Great views of Mount Alexander and many choice picnic spots along the way. A perfect route to travel with llamas as the track was rocky and challenging in parts.
